Basketball

Me and Kira were watching the Maryland vs. Georgetown game last night and she had never really watched with me before, she usually watches football. Though it seems she has a pretty good grasp on basketball already.

Kira: What teams are those?
Daddy: Maryland and Georgetown
Kira: They have the same name where we live! Is that our team?
Daddy: Yup!
Kira: Which one is Maryland?
Daddy: The white team with red numbers
Kira: And Georgetown is the blue team with gray numbers?
Daddy: Yup
Kira: Why are there two basket hoops?
Daddy: Because each team has to shoot the ball into the other teams hoop.
Kira: So each team has to make basket hoops and the team with the most basket hoops wins?
Daddy: Yup 😀

Bravery

Kira slept in her own room tonight! She was really excited to use the Rapunzel lantern she made at Kaylee and Khloe’s birthday party so she set it up on her book shelf with a light from Amang and went to bed. Before she went to bed I heard her prayer…

Dear Jesus, thank you for Mommy and Daddy letting me sleep in my own room. Thank you for letting me be brave. Thank you for my lantern, my baby brother, and for Ava. Amen.

Bad Things

Daddy: Kira, I want you to know that me and Mommy love you so much and always will forever.
Kira: Even when I do humongous bad things? Like bring rocks and dirt in the house?
Daddy: Please don’t bring dirt in the house. 😐
Kira: I won’t because I’m just asking… I brought you rocks for your rock collection though. 😀

What’s what

Daddy: Do you remember what a palindrome is?
Kira: A palindrome is when a word is the same forward and backwards.

(A few minutes later)

Kira: Daddy do you know what a poop letter is?
Daddy: What???
Kira: When you make a poop and it’s shaped like a letter. 😀
Daddy: Oh. LOL 😐

Orgazine

Kira loves to color and draw, she has hundreds of crayons and markers and a box that she keeps them in. She is also very particular about how they’re organized, or “orgazined” as she says.

Kira: Look Mommy and Daddy! I orgazined my marker box!
Daddy & Mommy: LOL wow!! Good job!!! (holding in laughter)
Daddy: Where did you learn that word?
Kira: You and Mommy ALWAYS tell me to orgazine my things… Orgazine means to make things nice and neat!
Kira: Orgazine. Orgazine. Orgazine….

Bad Dreams

Kira: Daddy can I pray so I don’t have bad dreams?
Daddy: Yeah sure, you can pray about anything whenever you want!
Kira: Ok…

Dear Jesus, thank you for giving me bad dreams… but I don’t love bad dreams.
You can give me good
dreams or silly dreams, but if you give me no dreams
that’s OK too. I just do not love bad dreams. Amen.

Scotch

Another random question from a four year old…

Kira: Daddy, did we adopt Scotch?
Daddy: What does adopt mean?
Kira: You know… When you save a pet?
Daddy: Oooh ok. Yeah we adopted Scotch.
Kira: That’s good, that means you saved him. Did you adopt him before I was here?
Daddy: Yeah Mommy adopted him before you were here.

Hanging Strawberry

Kira was feeling sick so she wanted to give me a check up. She told me to open my mouth and say “ahhhh”.

Kira: WHOA! Daddy, you have a strawberry hanging in your mouth! That is SO. COOL.
Daddy: Let me see yours.. Say “ahhhh”. OMG KIRA!
Kira: What is it???
Daddy: You have a hanging strawberry too!!!
Kira: Hahahaha YESSSS!!!

Bible School

Lola Neni took Kira to Bible School at Perry Hall Christian Church for the first time today and she loved it. She doesn’t remember her teacher or any of her new friends names but she said she made a lot of new friends and she likes her teacher! 🙂

Mommy: Kiraaaaa we missed you!!! Did you have fun???
Kira: MOMMY!!! YES!!!
Mommy: Did you guys pray?
Kira: Yeah! Like 10 times! Were you guys bored waiting for me? 😀
Mommy & Daddy: LOL

The heart melter…

Yesterday after work I took Kira to the park in our neighborhood. It was just the two of us on the swings, see-saw, slides etc. for about an hour. She was having a blast doing whatever she wanted. A few kids from a neighbors daycare came along, all Kira’s age or younger while we were on the swings.

Daddy: Hey Kira, do you want to play with those kids?
Kira: No tank you, I will stay on the swings.
Daddy: You sure? They’re your age too, you can make more friends!
Kira: No tank you…. I just want to stay here and spend time with you. Just me and you.
